Triple Distinctions for Three Students
Three Health and Social Care students at South Worcestershire College are celebrating after having achieved the highest grades possible on the BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 course.
Stephanie Roberts, Rebecca Haggitt and Amy Polson have each achieved triple distinction on their Level 3 course, which is equivalent to each of them achieving three A Levels at grade A.
Stephanie started her Health and Social Care studies on the Level 1 course, and because of her excellent work on this course she was able to progress straight on to the Level 3 course.
“The work placement experience on the course has built my confidence and raised my awareness of what employers expect of employees in the career I wish to pursue” said Stephanie. ‘It has been a happy and friendly course and tutors have been very supportive to me’.
Rebecca and Amy both joined the Level 3 course straight from school.
“I have always been interested in Psychology and so I found that element of the course really interesting, so much so that I am now going to University to study Psychology. I applied to University of Gloucester and the University of Worcester and was really pleased to be offered a place at both universities” said Rebecca.
“I had to do a number of presentations for the course to the group. This helped me to feel more confident and comfortable speaking in front of others and will be really useful for university.”
“I completed several work placements including a day centre for older people, special needs school and at a college for students with an acquired brain injury. I found this experience invaluable and it helped me gain knowledge and understanding of how to work with a very wide range of different client groups.”
Rebecca has chosen to continue her studies at the University of Gloucester and in the future plans to work with people who have mental health problems.
Amy will be moving straight from college into employment as an NHS Healthcare worker at Cheltenham Hospital.
“I have enjoyed the work placements that I have done during the course, which have included three childcare settings and one care home setting. I plan to move on to study child nursing at university in the future and so my aim is to now get lots of experience of working with children which is an entry requirement for the university course” said Amy.
