Travel and Tourism Fundraising Evening
Travel and Tourism students invited friend's, family and future college students into the world of the Travel and Tourism Industry for one evening, to give them a flavour of what life is like as a Travel and Tourism student and to also raise money for the Vale of Evesham School.
As the Travel and Tourism course now incorporates a cabin crew unit guests were welcomed in cabin crew style. On arrival guests were taken through the health and safety procedures as if they were on a plane. Students explained where the exits from the room were in typical air steward style and they also gave instruction on how to use a life jacket and an oxygen mask.
Guests were able to browse through displays about the student's recent trips, and were also given an insight into the curriculum that the Travel and Tourism courses cover, including Customer Service, Cruising, Tour Operating and becoming a Holiday Rep.
During the evening drinks and light refreshments were served, air steward style, to the guests and they then had 'in-flight entertainment' when the students gave a presentation about the trips they had been on throughout their course.
The students ran a raffle throughout the evening, tempting guests with a star prize of dinner for two, with proceeds of £200 going to the Vale of Evesham School.
"This presentation marks the end of the students' Travel and Tourism course, and it is lovely for them to be able to share the event with their friends and family. The entire evening from the planning stage, fundraising, hospitality and delivery was arranged by the students as part of their event unit. They have been very professional tonight with everything, including looking after the guests and giving an excellent presentation. I have no doubt that they will all do exceptionally well in their careers in the travel industry" said Katrina.
