South Worcestershire College raise £5,138 for charity!
In October last year the College’s Principal, Michael O’Brien launched a College Charity Challenge, challenging each of the Academies within the College to raise as much money as possible for charity.
Michael challenged each Academy to raise £150 or more, and if the Academies succeeded he, in return, would take part in a charity parachute jump.
The Academies rose to the challenge magnificently, organising a host of events including dog grooming days, PJ days, a sponsored bike ride, karaoke and Wii competitions, a sponsored chest wax and a ‘wear it pink’ day. From these events students and staff raised in excess of £4,500.
The Principal kept his side of the bargain, and along with Beauty Therapy tutor Sarah Martin and took part in a 12,000 foot parachute jump.
The sponsorship for the parachute jumps raised the College Charity Challenge total to an incredible £5,138.
“Each of the Academies have far exceeded the challenge that was set and as a college we are extremely proud of the effort that they have put into raising such an incredible amount of money. Charities including Acorn’s Children’s Hospice, St Richard’s Hospice and Help for Heroes have all benefited from the hard work that our students have put in over the past year” said College Principal Michael O’Brien.
