From College to the Police Force

Students at South Worcestershire College have been finding out about careers in the Police Force during a visit to the College by West Mercia Police.

The visit was for the benefit of those students who are joining the College's new Uniformed Public Services course and also for the College's ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students.

The Head of Academy for the Uniformed Public Services course, Jackie Humphries course said "We are very excited about the new UPS course starting at the College this coming September, and the talk today gave students who are joining the course a real insight into the day to day lives of police officers. This was also a great opportunity for our future UPS students to find out about the various career paths that they can take within the Police Force."

Eileen McMahon, Head of Academy for the ESOL courses, who organised the event, said "The Police now have more career opportunities than ever for speakers of other languages and we wanted to highlight this today to our ESOL students. The event has been a huge success and we have every hope that some of our students will move into a career in the local Police Force and so benefit the local community."
