Army takes over Application of Number class

Army takes over Application of Number class

Students from the AAT Accountancy and Business Administration courses at the College have enjoyed an Application of Number class with a difference. Tutors were replaced by the army who put the students through their paces with a strategy game.

Under the instructions of the soldiers, the students were divided into regiments and competed against each other in a Force Multiplier game to overcome bridges, deep rivers and many threats of ambush.

The AAT Course Manager, Margaret Saunders said "This session was something different to normal classes and allowed the students to put their numeracy skills to good use. They enjoyed the strategical planning and decision making required, but were concerned about having to spend too much money in getting their troops to safety!! From a career point of view, it highlighted the fact that the army had a number of possible careers in the accountancy and business areas which they had not previously thought about."
