A Giant Leap!

A Giant Leap!

College Principal, Michael O'Brien and Beauty Therapy Tutor, Sarah Martin have both decided to do parachute jumps to raise money for the charities of their choice.

Michael is jumping for Children in Need and for the local Acorns Children's Hospice, which cares for children who are life limited and life threatened and offers support to their families.

Sarah, despite having jumped out of an airplane once before has decided to do it again! Her chosen charities for this jump are Oasis Rescue, an organisation which empowers women in third world countries, by educating and training them in hairdressing and beauty therapy, and St Richard's Hospice which cares for patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Back in September the Principal launched the College Charity Challenge, challenging the students from each of the College's Academies to compete against each other to raise as much money as possible for a variety of charities.

"The students have risen to the challenge and have raised money in some very imaginative ways, including fancy dress Karaoke, a Christmas fayre, guinea pig racing, chest waxing, dog washing and taking part in the Children in Need activities at the local BBC studios" said Michael O'Brien.

"When the Challenge was launched I offered to jump out of a plane, with a parachute, if each Academy raised in excess of £150. The students have far exceeded this target and so on the 23rd June both Sarah and I will be doing the jump" said Michael.
