Connexions
Connexions is a service offering advice, information and guidance to all 13 to 19 year olds. They offer careers advice and guidance on a range of options available to young people in education, training and employment, as well as offering support on issues around:
- Money
- Health
- Housing
- Sexual Health
- substance/alcohol misuse
Connexions help young people find work as well as helping identify courses of interest to them. They also help with applications and job hunting. They're able to do this by
- Working with young people on a one to one basis
- Working with young people in groups
- Working closely with others delivering careers sessions in the college
- Signposting individuals to the right people and organisations to talk to
Connexions does not make choices for young people, it helps young people make choices for themselves. The service also works with parents and carers and can help them understand the range of opportunities available to their son/daughter in today's ever changing world.
Students may book an appointment with the Connexions adviser at the Learning Resource Centre, or by telephoning 01386 712 617.
