To train to a national standard in a specified vocational area and learn a company’s working practices.
Am I eligible for an Apprenticeship?
There are no fixed requirements, but some employers may ask for GCSE Maths and/or English dependant on the qualifications to be undertaken.
How long does an Apprenticeship take?
There is no set time to complete an Apprenticeship, as they vary widely in content and size. An Apprenticeship will usually take anything from 12 to 24 months.
Where will this take place?
Most of the work is ‘on the job’ at your workplace, with attendance of one day per week in College.
Will I get paid?
Yes – you will be a paid employee of a company.
When can I start?
You will be invited for an interview and a short tour of the College. The programme you chose is dependant on you gaining a successful work placement.
What qualifications will I gain?
We will train you to NVQ Level 2 and NVQ Level 3 including Key Skills and Technical Certificates in most occupational areas.
How do NVQs relate to other qualifications?
- NVQ LEVEL 2 = 5 GCSEs at grades A-C
- NVQ LEVEL 3 = 2 A Levels/1 Vocational A level
- NVQ LEVEL 4/5 = HNC, HND and degree level.
