C.A.R.E
CARE in this context is used as an acronym to represent the variety of courses the Academy has to offer.
The Academy of CARE consists of an array of full time and substantive part time courses across the disciplines of:
- Childcare
- Health and Social Care
- Animal Care
- Public Services
- Access to Higher Education
- Teacher and Teaching Assistant Training
The Academy delivers courses at both campuses and as an outreach provision across the county in Worcester, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Hereford. Some courses are offered to work based learners with only a limited delivery time in college. In addition to this, the Academy offers short full cost recovery courses to meet the needs of local employers such as first aid and food hygiene.
Childcare
Childcare courses offer an experience from just getting started in caring for children, right through to supporting them in school. These courses not only focus on the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the child but the requirements of work place policies and procedures and issues around ensuring inclusion for all. Work experience forms a valuable part of your learning for these courses which in turn helps you to develop skills to take you into future employment. Courses are available work based and college based.
Health and Social Care
Health and Social Care looks at both the health needs and social needs of people who are in a vulnerable position. It is important to understand people’s well being before looking at how to address their needs. Work experience enables you put theory into practice as well as developing your potential for future employment and or further or higher education.
Animal Care
Animal care enables learners to experience working with animals both in the college environment and in the workplace. The different course levels are designed to stimulate those students who prefer to learn in a 'hands on', practical way as well as those who enjoy the challenge of more academic assignments. All courses take part in practical visits to working animal organisations to access larger animals and develop a wide range of husbandry skills.
Public Services
Aimed at those pursuing a career in the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service and the Armed services, this course provides you with fantastic opportunities. You will take part in numerous adventure activities, enhancing your leadership and teamwork skills and developing your fitness in preparation for employment within the services. You will also gain valuable knowledge of Government policies, Policing and the legal system, how to plan for major incidents while visiting various Public service organisations around the country.
Access to Higher Education
Have you thought "I wish I had gone to University" or "I could do that; if only." Access to Higher Education is a one year intensive course to support you in developing the skills required to work at university level and to prove to yourself I can achieve this.
Teacher training
Teacher training involves developing those skills to impart your own knowledge and expertise to others in the learning environment. Preparing to teach in the life long learning sector provides the first step onto the ladder towards becoming a qualified teacher in the further education sector.
We are a small, friendly, supportive team and our aim is to develop the potential in learners to become effective professionals in their chosen field.
