For those who want a career in sport, or other areas where physical fitness and experience are required. The Diploma is equivalent to two A levels.

What qualifications do I need?
- You will need to have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade A*- C or above, or a Level 2 Diploma in Sport or appropriate work experience or interest
- All applicants will need to have a successful interview
What's involved?
You will study principles of sports coaching, training and fitness, fitness testing, sports massage and therapy, nutrition and weight management, practical outdoor activities, health and safety in sport, sport in society, sports development and practical sports study.
The opportunity may also be available to gain additional industry recognised qualifications in:
- Coaching
- Gym Instructing
- Instructing Circuit Sessions
- Personal Training
- Sports Massage
You will also study one Functional Skill in each year.
How will I be studying?
The course combines academic study with practical situations based on sport. Other methods of study include lectures, group work, individual work and practical coaching.
Where can I move on to after this course?
The National Diploma is equivalent to two A Levels and can be used to join a Foundation Course at University, which could lead to a career as a PE teacher, physiotherapist, Sports Development Officer etc. Alternatively you can progress into a career in the leisure industry eg:
- Outdoor activity centres
- Community Sports Centres
- Health and Fitness Clubs
- Public Services such as the Fire Service and the Police.
