We offer the Diploma/Extended Diploma at our Evesham and Malvern campuses.

The Diploma is equivalent to 2 A Levels and the Extended Diploma is equivalent in UCAS points of up to 3.5 Grade 'A' A Levels. These are also both excellent qualifications to access Higher Education or employment at a level with responsibilities.

What qualifications do I need?

You will need a broad education and preferably five GCSEs  grade A*-C (one of which should be in an academic subject - preferably English) or a Level 2 qualification at mainly Merit level.  You will also need a successful interview. All applicants will require a  police check.

What's involved?

You will be studying a wide range of units all related to health and social care:

  • Core units include: developing effective communications; equality, diversity and rights; health, safety and security; anatomy and physiology; psychology and sociology
  • You will also study a selection of specialist topics including caring for children and young people, safeguarding adults and promoting independence, values and planning
  • You will go on work placements in a variety of settings over the two years such as schools, day centres, care homes, hospitals and hospices
  • You will also have an opportunity to study for a Functional Skills in English and Maths 

How will I be studying?

You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will also be developing the wide range of valuable skills you need to start a career or progress into Higher Education. Topics are studied both individually and through group based activities.

Where can I move on to after this course?

BTEC Nationals are widely recognised for entry to university for a broad range of Higher Education qualifications. They are also valued by employers in areas such as care homes, primary care trusts, housing, community work and the voluntary sectors.
