The scheme is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who wish to pursue a career in the motor vehicle industry.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need to have grades A-G in English, Maths and ICT, and also be in employment within a motor vehicle workshop or Dealership.
What does the Apprenticeship cover?
This Apprenticeship covers the repair and maintenance of the modern motor vehicle, which includes:
- Chassis technology
- Engine technology
- Transmission technology
- Vehicle electrical systems
- Routine servicing
- Employee Rights and Responsibilities
- Functional Skills associated with the motor vehicle industry
- Health and Safety
How long does it take?
This is a two year programme comprising of a day release programme and construction of a competence based portfolio.
How is it assessed?
You will be assessed by online assessments, assessments of competence through work place observations and written assignments.
What will I achieve and where do I go next?
On successful completion you will achieve the IMI Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Once you have the Level 2 qualification you can continue onto IMI Level 3 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and Diagnosis.
What are the costs involved?
Learners over the age of 19 may be required to pay a fee; this is dependant upon prior qualifications obtained.
