This course can be used as a stepping stone on to a University course. It is traditional for art students to take this extra year of study in order to help them decide on their specialism, area of interest and to develop as an artist.

What qualifications do I need?
This course is suitable for students who have one of the following qualifications, but who are not yet ready to chose their discipline of study or progression route in to art:
- A Level Art
- Access to Art
- BTEC Level 3 Art
- Similar experience through art practice
All applicants will need to bring a portfolio of work along to their interview.
What's involved?
- A range of art disciplines
- A series of art and design projects which give experience of challenges faced by working artists
- A final project allowing students to develop their own specialism
How will I be studying?
Students will be encouraged to explore, think and evaluate to help gain an intellectual curiosity and a critical awareness of the contemporary visual world.
You will be taught by a team a specialists in their fields who are practising artists.
Where can I move on to after this course?
Students are guided through the university application process via UCAS to Higher Education (University Choices), to Further Education courses or towards a chosen career in the art area of their choice.
