Length: 1 Year.
This is ideally for those applicants who may have disappointing GCSE results; and be interested in a possible career in hairdressing or beauty therapy.
This exciting new series of qualifications will be offered at a level which best suits your ability of entry to the programme (14 - 16 year olds will study the course on a part-time basis, 16 - 19 years old will study full-time).

What qualifications do I need?
An interest in beauty is essential. You will need to have good communication skills, have basic competency in literacy and numeracy and the ability to work as part of a team. Places will be offered subject to a successful interview.
The course is to enable students to progress onto a Level 2 qualification and it provides a great insight in to hair and beauty.

- Hand care
- Skin care
- Shampooing and conditioning
- Basic styling of men's and women's hair
How will I be studying?
You will take part in practical sessions which will involve demonstrations and performing hair and beauty treatments.
There will be some theory input for students to complete assignments and tests for this qualification.
The course also includes Functional Skills and Personal and Social Development.
Where can I move on to after this course?
Following a successful interview students can progress onto the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course or the Level 2 Hairdressing course.
