This Apprenticeship is designed for sixteen to eighteen year olds who wish to pursue a career in the Land Based Industries Sector who have an interest in Groundcare machinery service and repair.

What are the entry requirements?
There are no specific entry requirements. Individuals will be taken on merit at interview stage and must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment at interview.
You must be in full-time employment with a Land Based Engineering company.
What does the Apprenticeship cover?
The Apprenticeship covers all aspects of machinery service and repair for the wide range of equipment used within the Land Based Industries. It will cover machinery related to the domestic and professional market including 4 and 2 stroke engines, diesel systems, hydraulics, electrics, transmissions, braking, steering systems and thermal joining processes.
How long does it take?
The Apprenticeship takes two years. You will attend College on a block release basis for seventeen weeks, in blocks of 2 to 3 weeks at a time, to achieve the Level 2 Diploma.
How is the course assessed?
The Apprenticeship is work and College based, proving practical competence through assessment and theoretical competence through on-line testing. A Work Based Recorder will be nominated by your company who will mentor you through the two years.
What will I achieve and where do I go next?
On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you will achieve the Level 2 City & Guilds 0059 Land Based Engineering Operations Diploma. Skills at Level 1 in Maths, English and IT, First Aid Certificate and knowledge of Employee Rights and Responsibilities.
For those who are eligible to continue training, an Advanced Apprenticeship is available. The Level 3 City and Guilds 0059 Land Based Engineering Operations Diploma can be achieved with an additional two years training.
What are the costs involved?
Learners over the age of 19 will be required to pay a fee; this is dependant upon prior qualifications obtained.
