The Foundation Degree in Learning Support is designed for practitioners working in the learning support environment with children or teenagers in mainstream or special settings. You could be working in a support role in primary, secondary or special schools.

What qualifications do I need?

60 UCAS Tariff points, plus current/recent experience of working with learners, minimum two years and employed within an appropriate educational setting.

Applicants with no formal qualifications may be considered for Mature Student Entry Routes.

A Criminal Records Bureau disclosure is required for this course.

What’s involved?

• The course covers a range of Educational and Health and Social Care modules, in particular it focuses on the curriculum  
• Work based focus 
• Written assignments, individual and group presentations, case studies and portfolios
• Problem-based learning and workplace investigation skills

How will I be studying?

The course will develop a personal approach to practice by furthering your understanding of education.

You will be encouraged to draw upon your existing skills, knowledge and experience as well as recognise your strengths and resolve personal professional development needs. The course modules are designed to give you the necessary expertise and knowledge to confidently tackle problems in a range of working environments and to put your studies to use in the real world.

The course will run one evening each week but will require further independent study in addition to the hours in College and will include two Summer Schools.

Where can I move on to after this course?

This course is an ideal progression route to a BA in a range of educational and Health and Social Care courses. It also provides an excellent route in to teaching.
