Length: 1 Year.
This course is offered on a full time or part time basis. The full time option runs over 3 days per week for 1 year. The part time option runs over 1 day a week for one year.
You will explore a range of art and design techniques in Year One and build up a personal creative portfolio for the Level 3 course or to explore the avenues available in the world of work.

What qualifications do I need?
- Two GCSEs at grade D or above (for applicants who are 19+ a portfolio and reference can be used to gain entrance.)
- Portfolio of art work/sketch books
- A successful interview
- Current school report

- Art and design areas of painting and drawing, graphics and illustration, fashion and textiles, craft and jewellery, contextual studies and progression routes

How will I be studying?
You will attend College for three days a week where you work on projects based on 3D Craft and Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles, Graphics and Illustration. You will also study art history and contemporary design which are assessed at regular intevals. Functional Skills of Maths or English will be studied. Progression tutorials and progression based project work will inform students of what the future can hold.
Are any trips or visits involved?
Visits and trips to Art Galleries and relevant areas of interest happen once or twice a year.
Where can I move on to after this course?
On successful completion of the BTEC Level 2 Diploma (which is equivalent to four GCSEs) students are guided through the application to join the Art & Design Level 3 course or given advice on possible employment routes within design fields, or a job of the student's choice.
