Length: 2 years.
This is a two year course in which you work at College for three days a week. You will explore a range of art and design areas and techniques in Year One and then in Year Two you will build up a personal creative portfolio for University submission or to explore the avenues available in the world of work. The Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

What qualifications do I need?
- A broad education and five GCSEs grade A* - C (one of which should be in an academic subject - preferably English) or a Level 2 qualification at mainly Merit level. (For applicants who are aged 19+ a portfolio and reference can be used to gain entrance)
- Portfolio of art work/ sketch books
- A successful interview
- Current school report

- Art and Design areas of painting and drawing, graphics and illustration, fashion and textiles, craft and jewellery, contextual studies and future progression routes
- Study Trips and End of Year Show
- You will study one Functional Skill each year

How will I be studying?
You will attend College for three days a week where you work on projects based on 3D Craft and Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles and Graphics and Illustration. You will also study art history and contemporary design which are assessed at regular intevals. Progression based project work will inform students of what the future can hold. In Year 2 you will specialise in a chosen area for the Final Major Project.
Are any trips or visits involved?
Visits and trips to Art Galleries and relevant areas of interest are orgaised one or twice a year.
Where can I move on to after this course?
On successful completion of the course (which is equivalent to three A Levels) students are guided through an application process via UCAS to Higher Education (University Choices), to Art and Design Study on the Level 4 Foundation Course or given advice on possible employment routes within design fields of their choice.
