BTEC Public Service Level 3. This qualification is the equivalent to gaining three vocational A Levels.

What qualifications do I need?
- Entry requirements are five GCSEs grade C or above, including Maths or English, or
- Merit or Distinction in a relevant BTEC Level 2 course
- All applicants will need to have a successful interview
What's involved?
- Students will study the following mandatory units: Government Policies and the Public Services, Leadership and Teamwork, Citizenship, Diversity and the Public Services, Understanding Discipline in the Uniformed Public Services, Fitness Testing and Training
- Students will also study an additional four areas including Land and Water Based Adventurous Activities, Fitness Training and Instructing, Understanding Crime and Disorder and Command and Control Techniques.
How will I be studying?
60% practical, the students participate in numerous activities including three expeditions away from campus. They will participate in group discussions, presentations and assignment writing, visits to public service establishments and charity/voluntary activities. Emphasis is on students getting hands on experience of public service life and developing teamwork and leadership skills.
Where can I move on to after this course?
The Level 3 qualification is equivalent to gaining three vocational A Levels and attracts UCAS points that equate to similar sized general qualifications.
Students can therefore aspire to enter Higher Education either through one of the Public Services or alternative degrees available nationwide. Students would also be well equipped to join one of the public service establishments.
