Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) - Fast Track to Intermediate Level 3

Available at: Evesham Campus. Malvern Campus. Length: 1 Year.

A Fast Track route covering Level 2 and Level 3 in one year, leading to a highly recognised accounting qualification which enables students to progress to the AAT Level 4 and then on to a professional accountancy career.

What qualifications do I need?

Applicants must have five GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and English or equivalent. (Relevant prior work experience will be considered as an alternative.)

What's involved?

Basic book-keeping through to preparation of final accounts for sole traders and partnerships for internal use
Costing and decision making for manufacturing and service industries
Indirect tax, (VAT) Cash Managment
Working Effectively in Accounting & Finance and Professional Ethics
SAGE computerised accounts and Excel spreadsheets.

How will I be studying?

The course is very structured. Students will generally study two to three units at a time. Each unit is delivered by means of lectures and workshops. In addition homework and self study will be expected to be undertaken. Each unit is examinable, with a total of 12 exams in order to achieve both levels.

Where can I move on to after this course?

AAT Level 3 is worth 160 UCAS points and can be used to assist university applications.

Alternatively students can progress on to the Level 4 AAT (available as a part-time evening course) and ultimately membership of the AAT organisation. For students considering Higher Education, completion of Level 4 can allow students to progress to the second year of relevant degrees or the second year of some professional accountancy qualifications.
