Information

What qualifications do I need?

Applicants must have five GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and English or equivalent. (Relevant prior work experience will be considered as an alternative.)

What's involved?

  • Basic book-keeping through to preparation of final accounts for sole traders and partnerships for internal use
  • Costing and decision making for manufacturing and service industries
  • Indirect tax, (VAT) Cash Managment
  • Working Effectively in Accounting & Finance and Professional Ethics
  • SAGE computerised accounts and Excel spreadsheets.

How will I be studying?

The course is very structured.  Students will generally study two to three units at a time. Each unit is delivered by means of lectures and workshops. In addition homework and self study will be expected to be undertaken. Each unit is examinable, with a total of 12 exams in order to achieve both levels.

Where can I move on to after this course?

AAT Level 3 is worth 160 UCAS points and can be used to assist university applications.

Alternatively students can progress on to the Level 4 AAT (available as a part-time evening course) and ultimately membership of the AAT organisation. For students considering Higher Education, completion of Level 4 can allow students to progress to the second year of relevant degrees or the second year of some professional accountancy qualifications.
